Bay of the Bones – Museum on Water
The Bay of the Bones, Museum on Water is located 14 km from Ohrid, near the Gradište auto camp. The underwater archaeological research at the site “Plocha Michov Grad” was started in 1997, and in 2007-2008 the reconstruction of a part of the settlement was completed. According to the archaeological findings, it was determined that the ancient habitat spread on an area of about 8500 m2. It was built on a platform placed on wooden piles clogged at the bottom of the lake, and with a wooden bridge connecting with the mainland.
These kind of habitats as a way of human existence are characteristic of the prehistoric period, from the time of the Neolithic-Young Stone Age, Eneolithic-Copper Age, Bronze Age, and Iron Age.
